Capture®
insecticide-miticide is proven effective for residual control of a
broad spectrum of canola pests including flea beetles, armyworms,
loopers and other pests.
Benefits don't come without responsibility. In
addition to the label requirements, there are several key management
practices you should be sure to keep in mind when using Capture®
insecticide-miticide:
-
For the longest residual control, the labeled rate of 2.6 ounces per acre should be used.
The first application should be timed to the first major pest that
reaches threshold levels (usually flea beetles). Do not apply more than
0.08 lb active ingredient (5.12 ounces) per acre per season. Do not
make applications fewer than 14 days apart or within 35 days of harvest.
-
Try to have clean leaves and be sure to obtain proper coverage.
Dirty or dusty leaves can reduce the effectiveness of many foliar
pesticides, so application after rain or overhead irrigation is best.
Additionally, we recommend using a minimum of two gallons of carrier
per acre by aerial application for complete coverage and 10 gallons by
ground equipment.
-
Practice good insecticide management.
Applications of Capture are effective in controlling major canola
pests and those that are an occasional problem. As with any pesticide,
continuous use of the same class of product (pyrethroids,
organophosphates, carbamates, etc.) is discouraged. Consider
alternating the use of Capture with products from a different chemical
class. To protect bees, avoid spraying during bloom and do not allow
spray drift to contact hives or blooming weeds. Follow all labeled
application information and precautions.
If you follow these simple guidelines, you'll be using Capture
appropriately and effectively. And you'll be able to keep using Capture
as a valuable tool for protecting your canola crop for years to come.
